Rose & Roots

Rose & Roots started as an idea—a response to the gaps we saw in access, representation, and intention within the interpreting field. What began as a conversation grew into a commitment to do things differently.

At Rose & Roots, our work goes beyond interpretation — it's about equity, visibility, and systemic change. We're committed to uplifting the Deaf community through advocacy for full language access, cultural respect, and meaningful inclusion in every space.

We invest in the growth and support of ASL interpreters through continuing education, community-rooted partnerships, and practices that honor both Deaf culture and interpreter well-being. By bridging communication gaps, we help build a world where Deaf and signing communities are not just accommodated — but genuinely valued, included, and heard.

Diversity Pledge

At Rose & Roots, diversity, equity, and inclusion are not just principles — they are the foundation of who we are. As a proudly queer-, women-, veteran-, and black-led interpreting agency, we understand firsthand the power of representation, the urgency of equity, and the necessity of inclusion.

We are committed to creating and sustaining a work environment where people of all identities, backgrounds, and lived experiences feel seen, respected, and valued. This commitment extends beyond our internal team to the communities we serve and the partners we collaborate with.

We believe language access is a human right — and so is belonging. In every interpretation, every partnership, and every training, we approach our work through an intersectional lens that honors Deaf culture, disability justice, and linguistic diversity.

We intentionally seek out partnerships with organizations, interpreters, and educators who align with our values and who are equally dedicated to building inclusive, anti-racist, and equity-driven spaces. Together, we work to dismantle barriers and amplify voices, ensuring that communication is not just accessible — but equitable.

At Rose & Roots, we don't just interpret language. We build bridges. We uplift communities. We sign forward.

At Rose & Roots, we recognize that the health of our planet is inseparable from the well-being of our communities. We are committed to minimizing our environmental footprint and integrating sustainability into every aspect of our work — from operations to partnerships.

We focus on four key areas:

🌿 Digital-First Operations: We use paperless systems for scheduling, invoicing, and prep materials, and rely on secure digital platforms to reduce waste.

🌱 Conscious Consumption: We choose reusables over single-use items and select eco-friendly, local swag for events.

🤝 Sustainable Partnerships: We work with clients and vendors who share our commitment to environmental responsibility and climate justice.

📚 Education & Advocacy We incorporate sustainability into our trainings and support green practices at events, while uplifting Deaf, disabled, and BIPOC communities impacted by climate change.

Sustainability is more than a practice — it' s part of our purpose.
